I work at InterSystems as a Product Manager for Developer Experience. InterSystems IRIS is the fastest database you've never heard of, but we're changing that. It's a steep learning curve, but it's worth it.
Before that I worked at IBM as an Offering Manager for IBM MetroPulse, a hyper-local retail analytics platform, and as a developer advocate for born-on-the cloud database and analytics offerings.
I used to specialize in geospatial data management and analysis. I like to think I played a role in pioneering Web mapping-as-a-service in the late 1990s with Syncline, a startup I co-founded. After that I finished my PhD in Urban Planning at MIT, exploring the potential of web services to power urban information systems. Prior to joining IBM in 2014, I worked on geospatial data interoperability challenges for the Open Geospatial Consortium.
